Larnell Lewis. If he isn’t on your radar, he should be.

Two of my favorite things Larnell has done – one, his work on the Snarky Puppy album “We Like It Here”. Secondly, his Drumeo lesson on YouTube. Both showcase his incredible playing, and more importantly, his musicality. Larnell has an ability to play FAST, and still make it groove and be music. That is the most important part. As he plays this solo, listen to how he solos around the riff the rest of the band is playing. He isn’t just throwing random note combinations around the drum set, or stringing licks together he has practiced. He is playing music based on what the band members around him are doing.
